7:33 am Appetizer, Craves, Rice
True, I could easily find instant nasi himpit and kuah kacang anywhere since I am back in Malaysia. So what am I bitching about, right?
Thing is, I like the one that I made while in Kent since it was nicely scented with daun pandan. It smells so nice that Pumpkin, who was maybe around 18 months, loved it so much.
Which brings me to another point. The kuah kacang that accompanied satay that we buy would not be suitable for Tia. Sometimes it was too sweet. Other times it was too spicy. So this one fits the bill since she likes eating the nasi himpit drenched in the sauce.
I made both of these because I barbecues some chicken and beef satay for us that day. I rarely barbecue anything since we don’t have any barbecue thingy or pit, so I had to make do using the portable barbecue thingy. Gosh the name escapes me.
We eat satay here all the time. Not expensive, either, around this part of the country. So I don’t see a need to marinade and barbecue my own satay. But one of these days, I wouldn’t mind cooking these for me and Pumpkin to nibble on, though. One of these days.
