I made this with Pumpkin in mind because she loves eating chicken nuggets. I saw this while watching a Japanese cooking show some times ago, but I did not have paper and pen handy to get the ingredients. So I searched online.

And I really thought that it would be easy to find a usable recipe, but I was quite wrong. I found some recipes, but I still had to do some modifications using ingredients available at hand.

Anyway, after I fried and drained these, Pumpkin was not interested in it. Until I bribed her with some mayonnaise and chili dipping sauce, that is :)

kara-age (deep fried chicken nuggets)

KARA-AGE (Deep-Fried Chicken Nuggets)
Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

Marinade (A)

  • 3 TB soy sauce
  • 30g ginger-grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Coating

  • 2 TB cornflour
  • 2 TB AP flour
  • Oil for deep frying

Method

  1. Marinade chicken pieces in A for about 30 minutes.
  2. Drain off marinade, then coat in cornflour and AP flour mixture.
  3. Deep fry in 180°C (350°F) oil for about five minutes, or until it turned golden brown.
  4. Drain, serve as it is, or dipped in mayonnaise+chili sauce mix. Or serves alongside with salad.
