9:23 am Beefeater, Home Cooking, Spiced it up
Again, another simple recipe for that lazy day. It is spicy, but not spicy enough that the husband could not eat it.
Yes, the husband couldn’t eat too spicy anything heh….
SAMBAL TUMIS DAGING KERING
Ingredients
500g sliced beef
2 shallots, slice thin
4 garlic, crushed
1 cinnamon stick
2 star anise
3 cloves
3 cardamom pods
Ground together
15 dried chillies (or more, depending on how hot the chillies are)
2 onions, chopped up
1/2 cup water
1 large onion, sliced thick
3 asam keping, cleaned
Salt and some sugar to taste
2 TB Oil
Method
Heat up the oil.? Add onion, saute till caramelized on medium heat. Then add garlic, cinnamon stick, star anise, cardamom pods and cloves. Saute for just a moment, till fragrant. Then add the grounded ingredients.
Cook on medium, stirring once in a while till the oil raises. Then add the asam keping and sliced beef. Mix well with the sauce, continue cooking on high.
If it is too dry, add some water to cook the beef. Not much, just about 1/2 cup or less. Stir once in a while, add salt and sugar to taste.
This dish could be cooked down as dry, or saucy. Just add enough water to make more sauce.
